M O V I N G : P H A S E T W O
Hello Darlings,
Now that everything you don't need is in the dumpster... or enjoying a new home somewhere (CHA-CHING $$$) it's time to move on:
PHASE TWO:
Packing!
This is the part most people dread. Yes I agree can be grueling but again it's all about your approach. I suggest making a plan and starting as soon as possible (after purging of course). I highly suggest cleaning the items as you pack. You'd be surprised how dusty things get, and the less you have to clean once you're in your new place, the better. Remember set yourself up for success!
***NOTE: When packing boxes... it's all about the labels, BE SPECIFIC!
What to do:
LIVING ROOM: WALL DECORATION & PICTURE FRAMES
KITCHEN: SPICES AND CANNED GOODS
BEDROOM: DESKTOP OFFICE SUPPLIES & WALL DECOR
Leave a small box for the stuff you need to be left out until the last day, like the kitchen supplies that are mentioned below. Those will most likely be the first things you need in your new place.
What not to do:
LIVING ROOM
KITCHEN
BEDROOM

Here is my usual plan of action:
1. Decorations.
I always start with my decorations and books. Anything on shelves, hanging on the walls, or on display. You can pack these things early on because you don't need them to live. You can still function at your full capacity in your living space without the decor. I would do this as early as four weeks out. Most of the items left in the living room are large and don't require packing, same with the dining room.
2. Living room/Hallway Closet.
Or whatever closet you keep seasonal and extra stuff in (I would leave out your cleaning supplies). These are more items that you can definitely live without for three weeks. Do a little larger grocery shopping trip this week in order to carry you through to your move. This will be the last time you go before moving into the new place!
3. Extra Kitchen Supplies.
If you're like me, you have double of almost everything. So pack those doubles! Only leave out what you use regularly. By this time I would say you only have about two more weeks in your home.
4. Closet.
Oh no, I said it... Your closet. As you're closing in on moving date you need less and less. It's about that time to leave out a few pairs of pants, a couple of shirts, and about 3 pairs of shoes. That should last you the remaining week and a half. I would also avoid grocery shopping at this point until you move into the new place. Focus on eating what you can in your house so you don't spend money eating out, this will also help in the transferring of the food to the new place.
5. Bathroom & Toiletries & Kitchen.
It is now the last week in your home, time to get down to business. Plan to pack up the remainder of your kitchen except for the exact amount of plates you need, exact silverware, one pan, and spatula. Try to eat up as much as you can in the fridge that last week, again avoid grocery shopping at this point. Have one towel for yourself the last couple of days. Pack the toiletries (Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc.) you need every day in a small open box, plan to carry that box in your lap on moving day. It's going to be the first thing you need before and after your move!
6. Bedroom (and any other rooms left).
Now that you're only a few days out, it's time to strip down to the bare bones. Everything in your rooms should be packed with the exception of your bedding. You maybe have two outfits left out, and the remainder of your clothes are CLEAN and packed. Keep a garbage bag for the last day to store the one dirty towel, the two outfits, and bedding that need to be cleaned after the move.
7. It's moving day, and you made it!
Next week we'll be unpacking, and we'll also be giving ourselves a pat on the back for making it SO easy!
